Hertford Pointe Testimonials

Hertford Pointe has truly been a blessing to me this year! It's allowed me to take a job at HCHS without the added stress of finding a place nearby to live. I'm able to walk to and from the school everyday in approximately six minutes! Another positive point about "The Pointe" is the networking opportunities I've been granted by living in a community of all teachers! While I knew I would be a new teacher at the school, I don't really feel that way with many of my fellow teachers living right around me. Living in such close proximity has made it possible to get fresh ideas with one another, vent or rejoice about the day, and even socialize on the weekend. Having so many people nearby that are in the same boat as I am has definitely made my transition as a first year teacher much easier! As far as Hertford Pointe's ability to help the county retain teachers, all I can say is that it would be very difficult to find another setting with as much initial community support! Thank you for everything!

Sincerely,

Nate Glosson

Hertford Pointe creates a wonderful opportunity for Hertford County Public School teachers. Hertford Pointe helped me attain an affordable, high-quality home for my family and me. Not only are the apartments nice but it creates a wonderful opportunity to meet other teachers. It is not often that I get to talk to teachers from other schools besides through e-mail and workshops or not at all. I already have met many teachers who live around me and we have been able to discuss lesson plans and the good points for our day. We, also, discuss obstacles and how we solved them. Hertford Pointe has provided a learning experience for new teachers. Living at Hertford Pointe will definitely keep me in the district longer because I have not had very good experiences renting in Hertford County until now.

Although I am not a new teacher to the county I have enjoyed living at Hertford Pointe. I used to drive from Tarboro NC each day. This meant getting up at 5:00 each morning and out the door by 6:00. My children started school with Hertford County last January because I was having trouble keeping up with their studies in Tarboro.

Over the years I have thought about moving here several times. I never did because I couldn't find a descent place to stay. My time was also very limited about how much time I could spend here looking for a nice place to live.

Since moving to Hertford Point I have found out things about the people and area that I could never have discovered while living far away. Ahoskie is the only place that I know of where Wal-Mart closes at 10:00 p.m.! I also enjoy eating pizza late at the Pizza hut. We've also found three fishing spots in the area. While shopping it’s very nice to hear a young child holler...Hi Mrs. Stalls! I never saw my students before except at school.

At night you can hear the sounds of crickets and frogs in the woods behind the complex. Sometimes we sit outside and talk at odd times. It has been very nice to meet so many new teachers with varied cultural backgrounds. I think that all of the people at Hertford Pointe are extremely nice. My children attend the Middle school and several of their teachers live at Hertford Pointe...... no more getting away with misbehavior or work not done. I also don't have to pay the high gas prices anymore. I just walk to Bearfield. In all, I am enjoying myself very much at Hertford Pointe.
