I would like to thank the SECU Foundation for choosing me to be one of the recipients of the SECU Scholarship. I was always concerned about the cost of college but never let the cost of attendance stop my hopes of continuing my education. This scholarship has allowed me to continue my education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Being the first generation of my family to attend a university, I am very grateful for this opportunity. Thank you very much. |

Attending NC State University
The "People Helping People" Scholarship helped to make college more affordable. With me as a rising freshman and my brother as a rising senior, my parents were facing paying for two children in college at the same time. Without the "People Helping People" Scholarship, I wouldn't have had the financial freedom to study at any public university without being restricted to a major. I am able to pursue a degree in Spanish Language and Literature, which usually goes unnoticed when schools offer financial support. |

Attending North Carolina A & T
It was indeed an honor, and I am grateful for having been chosen a recipient of the "People Helping People" Scholarship. My financial responsibilities toward achieving my educational goals have been lessened, which was a blessing to my family and me. Consequently, my educational costs have been reduced; therefore, I can focus on being a well-rounded college student, involving myself with extracurricular, voluntary and internship activities. As a recipient, I have not only been able to successfully enter into my third year of college but have had other doors of opportunities opened assuring that I would become one of the best certified public accountants. This scholarship supports me in my efforts to achieve my goals with honors. |

Being able to go to college is something every kid dreams of doing one day. Many high school graduates get to see their dream become a reality while others don't. Because of the "People Helping People" Scholarship from the NCSECU, I am fulfilling my dream of attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where I am pursuing a degree in Marketing with an emphasis on Pharmaceutical Sales. Thank you, NCSECU, for helping to make my goal attainable. |
