SECU Foundation awarded a $200,000 grant to establish the North Carolina Education Corps (NCEC) designed to leverage skills and expertise of college students, recent graduates, and retirees and address learning inequities intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic. NCEC will recruit, train, and deploy a diverse group of more than 250 North Carolinians as tutors, mentors and technology navigators, serving students and school systems both virtually and in-person. NCEC is a joint project of the North Carolina State Board of Education, the NC Governor’s Office, and Local Education Agencies.
