SECU The Rise on Clanton / Apartments by Roof Above

Check presentation for $2 million to Roof Above.

Approved by Board of Directors: July 2021

SECU Foundation provided a $2 million grant to Roof Above, a Charlotte non-profit working to end chronic homelessness through innovative solutions. The Foundation joined numerous state government and community donors in funding Roof Above’s effort to convert a hotel into an 88-unit permanent affordable housing facility. In addition to providing safe and affordable housing to 88 individuals, the renovated facility will offer onsite access to healthcare, education, employment resources and other supportive services. Roof Above was created by the merger of Men’s Shelter of Charlotte and Urban Ministry Center and now offers Charlotte residents experiencing homelessness a variety of services including street outreach, meals, drug and alcohol treatment, access to mental health services, shelter, housing and more.
