Approved by Board of Directors: July 2018

SECU Foundation awarded the Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences with a $2 million challenge grant for the construction of a paleontology conservation lab for the Dueling Dinosaurs exhibit, set to open in 2023. The “SECU DinoLab” will house the preserved and restored skeletons of a Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceratops, and allow visitors to witness scientific discoveries in real time through a glass-walled laboratory, as well as experience interactive educational resources through virtual broadcast. The Dueling Dinosaur fossils were found buried together in battle, and are among the most complete skeletons ever discovered of the two dinosaur species. The SECU DinoLab will continue the museum’s commitment to advancing guests’ understanding of science and nature.
